At Girls Count, our participants have the opportunity to explore their own interests in a self-directed environment with the support of their peers and our staff. We help them set attainable goals, find resources, and decide how they learn and what success looks like. They can work at their own pace without judgement or competitiveness. Participants find meaning in the world around them by following passions that are personal, educating themselves on issues rooted in real events, and by developing skills for a modern world. Problem-solving is at the forefront of the work that we do. Participants are not shown a singular way of reaching a goal. They work independently or with peers to explore options, make mistakes (which are encouraged), and adopt new strategies to reach goals which matter to them rather than reaching a determined outcome dictated by someone else.
